Main tasks
Glass Manufacturing Process Equipment Control Operators
- Operate multifunctional process control machines.
- Mix and melt raw materials.
- Ensure the smooth running of processes and make the necessary corrections.
- Maintain production records.
- Cut glass or make windows.
- Clean and maintain machinery, as required.
Glass Forming Machine Operators
- Prepare and set up glass feeding and forming machines.
- Operate and maintain machines that press or blow molten glass into moulds.
- Heat and mould glass sheets on the contour of metal supports.
- Spray or brush moulds with an oily solution to prevent glass adhesion.
- Examine samples of products, weigh, and measure them to verify the degree of conformity to specifications.
Glass Finishing Machine Operators
- Prepare and set up glass finishing machines and glass products.
- Operate and maintain machines used to drill, bevel, decorate, or polish glass or glass products.
- Examine products for quality control.
- Record data (quantities, dimensions, types of products manufactured, etc.).
Glass Cutter
- Place sheets of glass on tables or templates and measure them.
- Mark defective parts to get the best cut.
- Cut the glass along the lines or around the patterns.
- Polish edges.
- Assemble, control, and adjust computers or robots used to cut glass.
- Monitor processes to control quality.
Advancement and mobility
