Weavers, Knitters, and Other Textile Machine Operators

Job description
These individuals operate machines that make woven, nonwoven (e.g. rope), and knitted products. This group includes personnel who reproduce patterns. It also includes people who tuck in and knot warp threads and assemble looms. They are employed by textile spinning mills and by clothing and mattress manufacturers.

Main tasks
- Set up textile processing machines (e.g. looms).
- Study patterns and prepare looms to obtain the desired designs.
- Manufacture textile products (e.g. fabrics), rope, nets, knitwear, rugs, mattress covers, etc.
- Monitor machines and check fabrics or products for defects.
- Repair or report mechanical defects.
Advancement and mobility
- Experience and additional training lead to senior positions.
