Wood Processing Labourers

Job description

These individuals perform general duties related to wood and paper processing. They assist other staff members in carrying out their duties. They are employed by:

  • Pulp and paper and paper converting plants
  • Sawmills
  • Wood treatment plants
  • Wood processing companies

Main tasks

  • Place and align logs on a belt.
  • Load chips, pulp, and process products into conveyors or processing tanks.
  • Remove recyclable paper and pulp from pulp and paper making machines and transport them to processing machinery and equipment.
  • Sort, stack, and transport lumber, veneer, and panels.
  • Collect leftovers and wood chips for further processing.
  • Supply various equipment (conveyors, saws, dryers, etc.).
  • Clean machines and work areas.
  • Help other wood processing workers operate, maintain, and repair machinery.
