Job description
Insurance Adjusters examine the circumstances surrounding claims. They determine the value of loss or damage covered by insurance policies.
Claims Examiners review claims and authorize payments.

Main tasks
Claims Adjusters
- Investigate the circumstances surrounding the claims.
- Inspect damage to automobiles, homes, or other property.
- Record statements from claimants.
- Interview claimants, witnesses, doctors, or other concerned individuals.
- Calculate the loss or damage covered by insurance policies.
- Negotiate settlements.
- Draft adjuster reports.
Claims Examiners
- Review and calculate claims and authorize payments.
- Review adjuster reports and similar or previous claims.
- Guarantee the validity of claims and proceed to their settlement.
- Discuss claims with lawyers, doctors, or other contacts.
- Approve claims for various types of insurance (auto, fire, disability, etc.).
Advancement and mobility
- Additional university education allows these individuals to be recognized as a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP).
