Job description

These individuals ensure that an organization's data is accurate and up-to-date. They enter information (coded data, financial information, etc.) into computerized databases or spreadsheets. They work for private companies and organizations in the public sector.

Main tasks

  • Receive and save documents containing data.
  • Enter data into computerized databases, spreadsheets, or other templates.
  • Use keyboards, mice, optical scanning devices, or speech-recognition software.
  • Transfer data from one software to another.
  • Verify that the data is accurate and complete.
  • Identify, label, and organize electronic storage devices.
  • Store electronic storage devices in libraries.
