Job description

These individuals collect data on a given space that will then be analyzed by Land Surveyors. They are self-employed or work for:

  • The public service
  • Municipal governments
  • Surveying firms
  • Real estate development, natural resources, engineering, or construction companies

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Climatic conditions

Main tasks

  • Collect data.
  • Draw plans and delineate structures.
  • Provide the elevation, orientation, and size of the land or infrastructure.

Training and requirements

Formation

Most training programs are offered in French only.

College

DCS in technologie de la géomatique
Code : 230A0

Also required

  • Occupational competency certificate issued by the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ [Quebec Construction Commission]) to work on construction sites.
