Day Camp Counsellors
Job description
These individuals plan, implement, and lead sports and recreational activities for groups of children. They provide them with continuous guidance and ensure their well-being and safety. They work for:
- Leisure centres
- Municipalities
- Private companies
- Community centres
- Outdoor centres and resorts
Environment
- Uncontrolled ambient temperature
Main tasks
- Lead stimulating activities based on various themes.
- Ensure the integration and participation of children in activities.
- Take care of children with specific needs, as required.
- Plan and install the necessary equipment for sports and games.
- Work in collaboration with other camp counsellors.
- Collaborate with the parents of children.
- Take attendance and note absences during the day.
- Administer first aid or emergency care when needed.
Training and requirements
Formation
Sometimes required
- Training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) may be required.
- Experience in leading activities with children considered an asset.
