Job description

These individuals coordinate the activities of the food services staff. They work in:

  • Hospitals and other health care facilities
  • Cafeterias
  • Catering services
  • Food service establishments

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Odours

Main tasks

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule staff members who prepare, distribute, and serve food.
  • Order the ingredients and supplies required to prepare meals as requested by the chef.
  • Maintain records of inventory, sales, and losses.
  • Train staff on tasks, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Supervise the preparation of trays and the delivery of carts to people.
  • Ensure the quality of food and service in accordance with established standards.
  • Participate, as required, in the selection of personnel and the development of policies, procedures, and budgets.
  • Plan cafeteria menus and calculate food and labour costs as required.
