Job description

These individuals take food and beverage orders from customers and serve them. They are employed in

  • Restaurants
  • Tourist accommodation establishments
  • Bars
  • Banquet rooms
  • Tourist places and event organization companies
  • Golf clubs
  • Cruises

Main tasks

  • Greet customers, describe the menu, and make suggestions.
  • Recommend wines to match the food ordered.
  • Answer questions about food and beverages.
  • Take orders and pass them on to the kitchen and bar staff.
  • Serve the food and beverages ordered.
  • Prepare and serve the house specialties.
  • Maintain an inventory of wines and wine glasses and order as needed.
  • Perform sensory evaluation of wines.
  • Present the bill to customers and collect the amounts due.
  • Participate in setting up and closing down the establishment.
