Pastry Chef
Job description
These individuals prepare, bake, and decorate pastry products (cakes, mousses, pies, etc.). Some also bake specialty desserts (chocolate, sweets, etc.). They work in:
- Food markets
- Pastry shops
- Bakeries

Main tasks
- Choose the raw materials according to the products to be made.
- Make and decorate pastries.
- Advise customers.
- Pack and label products.
- Rotate perishable goods according to company policy.
- Fill refrigerated displays and shelves with products.
- Order goods as needed.
- Maintain equipment, displays, and work area.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, sanitation, health, and safety standards.
- Receive goods and store them according to the company’s requirements.
Advancement and mobility
- Experience leads to senior and managerial positions.
- Qualified pastry chefs receive a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
