Job description
These individuals install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems.

Main tasks
- Erect and maintain poles, towers, and cables.
- Splice (assemble), weld, and insulate conductors and cables.
- Check and test power lines and cables.
- Climb ladders or use aerial baskets to work at heights.
- Lay and maintain cables in confined spaces (trenches, tunnels, etc.).
- Install and maintain street lighting networks.
- Communicate with other workers to coordinate work.
Advancement and mobility
- Qualified Power Line Technicians receive a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
- Experience leads to supervisory positions.
