Fire Protection Mechanics
Job description
These individuals install, inspect, and repair fire prevention and firefighting systems (e.g. sprinklers). They install and connect the piping to these systems. They work on commercial, industrial, and residential construction sites.

Main tasks
- Install overhead piping systems.
- Prepare and install, as required, underground piping systems.
- Prepare the piping that connects the automatic sprinkler systems.
- Maintain and check fire protection systems.
- Install systems using various substances (water, air, foam, etc.).
- Interpret plans and technical drawings.
Advancement and mobility
- Qualified Fire Protection Mechanics obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.

Formation
Most training programs are offered in French only.
