Job description

These individuals maintain, test, and repair various devices (electric motors, transformers, switchgear, etc.).

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Equipment, machinery, tools
  • Hazardous chemical
  • Noise
  • Fire, steam, hot surfaces
  • Electricity

Main tasks

  • Observe electromechanical components and systems to locate and repair faults.
  • Replace or refurbish components.
  • Solder and braze electrical connections.
  • Repair or replace defective wiring or components.
  • Test repaired electrical devices to ensure performance.
  • Perform machining operations to refurbish or modify parts.
  • Perform onsite maintenance and repairs.

Advancement and mobility

  • Qualified Electrical Mechanics obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
  • These individuals may specialize in certain types of devices (electric motors, transformers, etc.) or in particular functions.
  • Experience lead to supervisory positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2022 to 2024.
