Job description

These individuals are responsible for raising pigs for slaughter or other livestock farms. They feed and care for the animals and take care of breeding. They work primarily on farms.

Main tasks

  • Feed the animals and ensure their well-being.
  • Help the animals give birth and take care of the piglets and assist with insemination.
  • Spot abnormalities (diseases, injuries, etc.) and care for the animals.
  • Spread manure.
  • Assist in moving the pigs.
  • Maintain equipment and buildings.
  • Maintain animal health records.
  • Assist with crop work, as required.

  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

Most training programs are offered in French only.
