Aquaculture and Marine Harvest Labourers
Job description
These individuals assist Aquaculture Technicians in the operation of an aquaculture facility (where fish and plants grow). Some harvest marine plants and shellfish (mussels, oysters, etc.).

Main tasks
Aquaculture Support Workers
- Take care of the aquatic fauna and flora.
- Report any irregularities.
- Operate and maintain aquaculture equipment and facilities.
- Keep a daily record of water movements and fish samples.
- Categorize and weigh fish, molluscs, algae, and echinoderms.
- Prepare aquaculture stocks for sale.
- Operate boats in aquaculture operations, as required.
Marine Plant Harvesters
- Harvest marine plants (algae, Irish moss, etc.) on beaches, rocks, or in shallow water.
- Dry seaweed and remove foreign bodies.
- Transport products to the packing plant.
Shellfish Harvesters
- Harvest shellfish.
- Clean, sort, and transport shellfish to points of sale.
