Job description

These individuals inspect and sort textiles, fur, and leather products. They are employed by:

  • Textile products spinning mills
  • Tanneries
  • Fur dressing companies
  • Manufacturers of clothing and fur and leather products

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Hazardous chemical
  • Nontoxic dust
  • Noise

Main tasks

  • Examine clothing and textile, fur, and leather products to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Check and sort animal hides, furs, and leather according to size, condition, and weight.
  • Check the size or fit of a garment by placing it on a form or measuring it.
  • Repair minor defects on garments.
  • Sort, match, and label finished products according to size, style, and quality.
  • Maintain records of products checked.
  • Pack products as required.
