The Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales (DPCP) authorizes and directs criminal and penal prosecutions on behalf of the Québec State. It helps protect the population and maintain the public’s confidence in the criminal and penal justice system.
The DPCP is a public body that is independent from the Ministère de la Justice du Québec. Its work is not influenced by political, economic, police, media or popular pressure.
This independence ensures that the population of Québec has access to an honest and fair justice system.

The Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales (DPCP) authorizes and directs criminal and penal prosecutions on behalf of the Québec State.
It is committed to having victims and witnesses participate in the judicial process and to the fair processing of cases and offenders. It contributes to the protection of the population and helps maintain the public’s trust in the criminal and penal justice system.
The DPCP is collaborating closely with police forces and other partners from the criminal and penal justice system, including crime victims assistance centres (CAVACs).
