Receipt of the test kit and transmission of the results
When you receive the test kit:
collect your sample by following the instructions provided in the kit;
read, complete and sign the consent form you received with the test kit;
return the kit containing your sample and your signed consent form in the reply envelope. The tests are free, but people who do them must cover the cost of mailing their sample to the laboratory.
Transmission of the results
The laboratory will mail your results to you three to five weeks after receiving your sample.
If you or your partner are carriers of a variant in a gene or if you are both carriers of a variant in the same gene, a health professional will call you.
