When carrier screening is done, personal information will be collected about you, including your test results. It will be kept confidentially in your medical record at the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, in accordance with the legal requirements the health institution must comply with.
The oral cell sample (taken from your mouth) will be kept in the laboratory for five years. It can only be used:
for research on new genetic tests;
for laboratory evaluation or quality assurance purposes.
If you want your sample to be kept for more than 5 years, you can indicate this on your consent form.
The laboratory of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean is responsible for offering carrier screening.
