Health information security in the Québec Health Record
A number of measures and mechanisms are in place to ensure the safety, confidentiality, availability, integrity, accessibility and irrevocability of the health information in the QHR.
How it works
Information about your identity is not kept in the same information banks as those that contain your health information. It is only when a provider accesses the QHR that all the information he is authorized to access is brought together and appears on his screen.
System reliability
The systems used for the QHR comply with cybersecurity standards established and tested by internationally recognized standardization bodies.
As for all large-scale information technology systems, there are backup systems should a technical failure occur. These measures are intended to protect the information and ensure access to the QHR at all times.
