Authorized bodies

Some bodies are assigned access authorizations to release or receive your health information through the Québec Health Record.

The Regulation respecting access authorizations and the duration of use of information held in a health information bank in a clinical domain  specifies the information each type of body can release or consult. At least one authorized provider must perform their duties in the body in order for access authorizations to be granted to that body.

QHR access for healthcare bodies

• Health and social services institutions may:
  • View medication information
  • Share medication information, if the institution employs at least one pharmacist
  • View laboratory results
  • Transmit laboratory results, if the institution operates a medical biology laboratory or if it requests lab tests from Héma-Québec, Centre de toxicologie du Québec, or Laboratoire de santé publique du Québec
  • View medical imaging results
  • Transmit medical imaging results, if the institution has a clinical medical imaging department
  • View hospitalization summaries
  • Transmit hospitalization summaries, if the facility operates a hospital centre
• Community pharmacies may:
  • View medication information
  • Transmit medication information
  • View laboratory results
  • View medical imaging results
  • View hospitalization summaries
• Medical biology laboratories may transmit laboratory results.
• General medical imaging laboratories and medical diagnostic radiology laboratories may transmit medical imaging results.
• Private doctor’s offices, private professional’s offices, and specialized medical centres may:
  • View medication information
  • View laboratory results
  • View medical imaging results
  • View hospitalization summaries
