Liquidator

Information on the appointment, remuneration and replacement of a liquidator of succession.

Appointment

You must check whether the deceased has appointed a liquidator to settle his succession. He may have specified this in his will, if he left one.

Accepting or refusing the role of liquidator

You may accept or refuse to be the liquidator of a succession, and can withdraw from this role later on.

Replacement

You can ask the court to replace an appointed liquidator.

Remuneration and reimbursement of expenses

A liquidator can be remunerated under certain conditions and is entitled to reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of his or her duties.
