Today is the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and a great opportunity for the people of Québec to learn about and appreciate the rich cultural and artistic heritage of each of Québec’s Indigenous nations.

As the enthusiasm for Indigenous art attests to, First Nations and Inuit creators are making a name for themselves here and abroad. We also want to more broadly highlight the growing contribution of Indigenous communities and organizations to tourism, culture and the economy.

Past and future efforts to build a closer relationship

This year, the Secrétariat has implemented a number of initiatives to promote:

We intend to keep up the momentum and join Québec’s 11 Indigenous nations in developing policies, programs, agreements and other initiatives that will help them take their rightful place and increase their visibility, autonomy, well-being and development.
