You wouldn’t think that the Midwest would be a hotbed for solar energy, but one of Québec’s leading energy producers is making major advances in the region through partnering with one of the largest corporations on earth to help finance it.

As its official name indicates, Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. This hyperlink will open in a new window., is all about producing renewable energy. In fact, 100% of the energy it produces is renewable; be it through solar, wind, hydroelectric, or energy storage. For over 30 years, Innergex has been developing, acquiring and operating various facilities in Canada, the United States, France and Chile to create healthier communities for generations to come. Now, Innergex has expanded its operations here in our very own Midwest.

Recently, the Longueuil-based company announced that its latest Midwestern solar farm will be named the Amazon Solar Farm Ohio – Hillcrest This hyperlink will open in a new window.. This follows an agreement with Amazon for the latter to purchase 100% of the generating electric output of the 200-megawatt Innergex facility. Amazon – Hillcrest is Innergex’s second largest solar farm commissioned to date and is just a preview of the investments the company is making in its target markets.

What makes the agreement with Innergex and Amazon so fruitful is that it allows an increase in renewable energy capacity – a win-win-win for the companies involved, but also for consumers and the planet. We look forward to more renewable energy operations to come in our territory thanks to our innovative Québec companies!
