CRTC requirement

A CRTC requirement requires television broadcasters, radio broadcasters, and wireless service providers to broadcast alerts issued by the Ministère de la Sécurité publique or Environment and Climate Change Canada in the area(s) targeted by these alerts, without exception and without the option to opt out of this service. Alerts are broadcast during events that pose an immediate danger or imminent threat to life, allowing you to take action to ensure your safety, the safety of your family, or the safety of others. For these reasons, alerts are considered critical to everyone in the targeted area(s).

Only authorized persons acting in the course of their duties will have access to the information collected. This information will be kept for a maximum of one year, after which it will be destroyed.
