Maps of public charging stations

Various websites and mobile applications allow users to locate available public charging stations in Québec.

Here are some of the most popular charging station maps:

By consulting these maps, you can see that public charging stations are already widely available and continuously increasing in number, both in urban and rural areas as well as along major highways. Driving an electric vehicle is completely feasible!

Charging station maps typically provide:

  • the exact location of a public charging station;
  • technical specifications (power output, connector type);
  • real-time status (available, out of service, in use);
  • usage fees;
  • user reviews on the station’s functionality.

Trip planning tools suggest the best charging locations and times based on factors such as the distance to be traveled, initial charge level, and elevation changes along the route, etc. We encourage you to use these tools when planning long trips or preparing for travel.

Becoming a network member

To charge your electric vehicle at a public charging station, you must first be a member of the network that owns the station.

A public charging network membership is generally free. You can register for a public charging network by visiting the network’s website or downloading its mobile app onto your smartphone.

For most networks, the mobile application is the only way to start a charging session and process payment. It’s simple and secure, so be sure to sign up before you hit the road.

A network membership allows you to:

  • add funds to your account;
  • locate a charging station near you and check its rate and availability;
  • register your vehicle model and its specifications;
  • plan your trips, including necessary charging stops;
  • start charging sessions in just a few seconds on the app or with the membership card offered by some networks. With the Autocharge function of the Electric Circuit, simply plug your vehicle into a compatible fast-charging station to start charging. Other networks offer a similar function.

One registration

Several charging networks are partners and allow you to locate and use stations belonging to other networks, across Canada and the United States, thanks to what is known as “roaming.”

For example, registration with Hydro-Québec’s Electric Circuit gives you access to charging stations from several partner networks in Québec and North America. This membership may be sufficient to meet your charging needs away from home.

Roaming charging has many advantages but may incur additional fees.
