Québec Enterprise Number (NEQ)
The Québec enterprise number (NEQ) is a ten-digit numerical identifier assigned to each enterprise that registers with the Enterprise register. It makes it easier to identify the enterprise among public bodies and business partners.
Who can get an NEQ
Every enterprise that registers with the enterprise register is assigned an NEQ. This NEQ and enterprise information is then made available online, free of charge, on the Registraire des entreprises website. Natural persons operating a sole proprietorship may not have more than one Québec enterprise number (NEQ).
Why use an NEQ
The NEQ simplifies and accelerates relations between companies and the various departments and agencies of the Québec government. It makes it easier for enterprises to register for various government programs and services.
The NEQ can be used, with the following government agencies:
- Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail
- Commission de la construction du Québec
- Commission des transports du Québec
- Emploi-Québec
- Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation
- Office de la protection du consommateur
- Office québécois de la langue langue française
- Régie du bâtiment du Québec
- Revenu Québec
- Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec
