Job description

These individuals sort, store, and ship parts and supplies. They work in:

  • Manufacturing plants
  • Warehouses
  • Businesses
  • Mining companies
  • Forestry or construction companies
  • Repair shops

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

Main tasks

  • Receive, sort, and store parts and supplies in a warehouse, tool or supply depot.
  • Process requests and route items to the right location.
  • Maintain the order book and inventory of available items.
  • Place orders to replenish parts and supplies.
  • Sell items.
  • Advise customers or users on parts, supplies, and materials required.

Advancement and mobility

  • Additional experience or training may lead to supervisory positions.
  • Parts clerks may specialize in a particular category of parts (e.g. automobiles, heavy equipment, heating systems, etc.).
  • Qualified Parts Attendants receive a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
