Job description

These individuals assemble metal rods or wire mesh to reinforce the concrete of various structures (buildings, bridges, columns, etc.). They work for:

Institutional establishments (schools, libraries, office buildings, etc.)
Businesses
Civil engineering firms

Main tasks

Read and interpret plans, maps, and drawings.
Cut, bend, tie, weld, and install reinforcing steel used in construction.
Fabricate and install reinforcement parts and prefabricated elements.
Install mechanical joints, anchors, and studs.

Advancement and mobility

Qualified Reinforcing Steel Erectors obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
Experience leads to senior positions.
