Assemblers

Job description

These individuals make, erect, and assemble iron and steel components used in the construction of various structures (buildings, bridges, silos, etc.). They are employed by:

Institutional establishments (schools, libraries, office buildings, etc.)
Businesses
Civil engineering firms
Road services

Environment

Climatic conditions
Equipment, machinery, tools
Uncontrolled ambient temperature
Hazardous workplaces
Noise
Fire, steam, hot surfaces
Electricity
Falling objects

Main tasks

Read and interpret assembly drawings.
Make, bolt, weld, rig, and assemble structural components (beams, columns, joists, etc.) and architectural elements (stairs, balconies, etc.).
Inspect the final version of the mounted parts to ensure compliance with the initial plans.

Advancement and mobility

Qualified Assemblers obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
Experience leads to senior positions.

Most training programs are offered in French only.
