Job description

These individuals make, erect, and assemble iron and steel components used in the construction of various structures (buildings, bridges, silos, etc.). They are employed by:

  • Institutional establishments (schools, libraries, office buildings, etc.)
  • Businesses
  • Civil engineering firms
  • Road services

Environment

Main tasks

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings.
  • Make, bolt, weld, rig, and assemble structural components (beams, columns, joists, etc.) and architectural elements (stairs, balconies, etc.).
  • Inspect the final version of the mounted parts to ensure compliance with the initial plans.

Advancement and mobility

  • Qualified Assemblers obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
  • Experience leads to senior positions.

Most training programs are offered in French only.
