Job description

These individuals collect overdue accounts and NSF cheques. They seek out debtors to agree with them on payment terms. They work for:

  • Collection agencies
  • Public utility companies
  • Department stores
  • Loan companies
  • Banks
  • Financial services
  • Credit unions
  • Government licencing services

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Climatic conditions

Main tasks

  • Find the debtor and advise them of late payments and overdue accounts.
  • Resolve collection problems by making arrangements with the debtor.
  • Recommend new initiatives or suspension of service delivery if payment is not made.
  • Communicate with the debtor’s family and friends for information, as required.
  • Answer mail, draft reports, and maintain collection records and files.
