Job description

These individuals design, implement, and evaluate computer systems. They perform consulting and advisory tasks. They analyze their clients’ needs in order to develop recommendations on computer systems. They are self-employed or work for consulting firms and information technology (IT) departments in the private or public sectors.

IT Analysts and Consultants

  • Determine and document the IT needs of users.
  • Design, use, and maintain databases and applications.
  • Make recommendations on computer system problems.
  • Optimize software efficiency and quality.
  • Analyze the costs of development, use, and optimization of systems.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and execution of IT strategies.
  • Advise IT managers within companies.
  • Prepare presentations and written reports based on research, data collection, and analysis from multiple sources.
  • Design and optimize algorithms. IT Systems Quality Assurance Analysts
  • Optimize software efficiency and quality.
  • Design and implement software lifecycle procedures.
  • Advise IT managers within companies. Systems Auditors
  • Conduct independent reviews to evaluate quality assurance practices, software products, and information systems.
