Job description

These individuals design and manage data management software. They are employed in consulting firms and IT services in the private and public sectors.

Main tasks

Database Analysts

  • Identify and document user needs.
  • Design and develop database architecture and management systems.
  • Advise IT professionals on the application and implementation of database management tools.
  • Perform data mining analysis.
  • Direct, coordinate, or supervise staff, as required.

Data Administrators

  • Develop and implement data management policies, standards, and models.
  • Document requirements and develop policies regarding data collection and administration, access rules, data backup, and recovery.
  • Specify the users and their access levels for each database segment.
  • Advise information systems professionals on data collection, availability, and security.
  • Draft documents related to procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate, as required, teams of Data Administrators.
