Job description

These individuals perform tests to find and report bugs in video games. They follow a precise protocol to check the navigability and playability of games. They work for video game companies.

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

Main tasks

  • Test the game by playing it, in its intermediate and final phases, to detect anomalies.
  • Follow a protocol and test matrix to determine at which levels and in which versions of the game the bugs are located.
  • Perform tests on various multimedia platforms (computers, Internet, game consoles, etc.).
  • Communicate the results to developers and other technical and artistic stakeholders.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to senior positions.

Training and requirements

Formation

Bachelor’s degree or diploma of college studies

Sometimes required

  • Experience in the field of video gaming is usually required.
  • Programming experience is an asset.
