Nurse Practitioners
Job description
These individuals have additional training and experience in nursing care. They look after all the health aspects of a patient’s life (health-related needs, information and history gathering, advice for leading a healthy life, etc.). They work in particular for:
- Hospital centres
- Family medicine groups
- University health and social services centres (CIUSSS)
- Residential and long-term care centres (CHSLDs)
- Youth centres
- Specialized ambulatory clinics

Main tasks
- Prescribe medications, diagnostic tests, and medical treatments.
- Use diagnostic techniques that are invasive or pose a risk of injury.
- Provide clinical support to Nurses and other professionals.
- Collaborate with the Attending Physician to identify health problems and establish care and treatment.
- Contribute to the follow-up of previously diagnosed patients.
- Design, implement, and evaluate health programs.
- Develop and implement educational programs.
- Collaborate in the development of training programs for Nurses.
- Conduct clinical medical research.
