Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Assistants
Job description
These individuals assist educators in their work with children. They ensure their safety and well-being. They help develop and lead educational activities. They prepare meals and upkeep the premises. They work for:
- Early childhood centres (CPE)
- Daycare centres
- Childcare services
- Day camps
- Organizations for children in difficulty
- Maisons de la famille (service centres for family issues)

Main tasks
- Build an emotionally meaningful relationship with the children and provide care (change diapers, wash hands before and after meals, etc.)
- Serve meals and snacks
- Help children develop good eating, toilet, and dressing habits.
- Set up rooms and furniture for lunch and naps.
- Lead children in various activities (art, music, physical activity, etc.).
- Share observations with educators about the children’s progress, the challenges they face, etc.
- Help educators and supervisors keep records, as required.

Formation
Sometimes required
- Experience with children may be considered an asset.
- Training in emergency first aid and CPR (Child Care) may be required.
- Early Childhood Educator designation may be required or an asset.
