Job description

These individuals record, mix, and edit sound, music, and video tapes. They work for:

  • Multimedia companies
  • Recording companies
  • Production companies (cinema, videos, concerts)
  • Theatre and dance groups
  • Educational institutions
  • Hotels
  • Music bands
  • Radio and television stations

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Equipment, machinery, tools
  • Noise

Main tasks

  • Install, prepare, operate, and adjust recording, editing, and playback equipment.
  • Record, edit, and reproduce sounds.
  • Generate lettering, background images, or animations.
  • Mix music and sound at concerts and events.
  • Synchronize images and sounds from different sources.
  • Supervise and coordinate, as required, other technicians.
