Job description

These individuals are self-employed or work for various service facilities:

  • Hairdressing salons
  • Show rooms
  • Residential buildings
  • Funeral parlours
  • Laundry rooms
  • Public parking

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

  • Vehicle or passenger compartment

Main tasks

Hair Salon Attendants

  • Wash, treat, and dry people's hair.
  • Assist hairdressers according to their instructions.
  • Clean work areas.

Door Attendant

  • Assist people entering and leaving theatres, residential buildings, etc.
  • Hail taxis, as required.
  • Help people carry their bags, as required.

Funeral Home Attendants

  • Drive hearses.
  • Provide lighting in funeral homes.
  • Arrange flowers.
  • Escort the funeral procession and act as bearer at the funeral.
  • Clean the funeral home and chapel.

Laundromat Operators

  • Replenish the vending machines.
  • Provide change and explain the operation of the machines to people.
  • Clean the premises and have the faulty machinery repaired.
  • Wash, dry, and fold customers' laundry, as required.
  • Operate dry-cleaning machines for customers, as required.

Parking Lot and Car Attendants

  • Collect payment for parking.
  • Issue tickets.
  • Direct people to available spaces.
  • Park vehicles as required.

Ushers and Ticket Receivers

  • Collect admission tickets or passes from patrons at venues.
  • Direct people to their seats.
