Main tasks
Telephone Installation and Repair Workers
- Install and maintain telephone equipment, cables, and related hardware.
- Check the installed telephone networks for transmission interruptions.
- Repair or replace defective or damaged telephones, cables, and equipment.
Switched Network Installation and Repair Workers
- Install, inspect, and test systems, circuits, and equipment in switching centres.
- Analyze the test results.
- Resolve problems or repair faulty systems, networks, and equipment.
Telecommunications Services Auditors
- Test customer lines and equipment, complete reports, and maintain records.
- Establish the nature, cause, and location of the failures.
- Send appropriate repair personnel.
- Assist repair personnel with their tasks as required.
Telecommunication Equipment Technicians
- Install, remove, maintain, and inspect telecommunications equipment.
- Configure operating systems and install Internet access software.
- Diagnose and identify hardware failures and replace or repair defective equipment.
