These individuals trap and hunt wild animals for their skins or to sell them alive.

Main tasks
Trappers
- Place bait in traps and place traps along trails.
- Inspect trapping routes.
- Remove captured animals and replace traps.
- Slaughter and skin captured animals to keep their skin.
- Process and pack hides for sale.
- Trap live animals for sale or movement.
- Maintain and repair trapping equipment.
- Maintain trails and access to trapping routes.
- Trap animals designated for premium or control programs.
- Control the animal population in trapping areas to ensure the viability of the resource, as required.
Hunters
- Locate and track wild animals.
- Slaughter wildlife with firearms or other weapons.
- Skin slaughtered animals to keep their skin.
- Process and pack hides, and transport them to processing plants or public auctions.
- Maintain hunting equipment.
- Control the animal population in hunting areas to ensure the viability of the resource, as required.
Advancement and mobility
- Specific areas may be allocated to trappers based on their experience and jurisdiction.
- These individuals may specialize in trapping or hunting a particular species of animal.
