These individuals ensure the conformity of wood products and classify them according to industry standards. They work for:

Main tasks
Lumber Graders
- Examine lumber for defects (knots, holes, cracks, etc.).
- Sort lumber for drying, delimbing, or further processing.
- Measure, grade, and sort wood according to industry standards and mark it to indicate its quality.
- Keep records of the quantity of lumber.
- Prepare reports.
Other Wood Processing Inspectors and Graders
- Ensure that panels and shingles comply.
- Indicate defects and sort for repair or further processing.
- Measure wood products, ensure compliance with specifications, and grade and label them according to quality standards.
- Complete and maintain inspection and grading reports.
