Return to work of retired teachers from the education network

If you are a retired teacher with a teaching licence, you can return to the job market, regardless of your retirement date, to teach in preschool, elementary or secondary school.

The return to work of retired teachers who are trained, experienced and willing to work makes it possible to meet the needs of the education network.

Financial incentive and no financial penalty

As of your first day as a substitute teacher, you will be remunerated in accordance with the rate called for in the single pay scale (scale corresponding to your experience and education), instead of the usual rate for casual supply teachers.

If you are a retired teacher with a teaching licence and returning to work as a substitute teacher, you could receive nearly double the usual maximum rate without negatively impacting your pension benefits.

You will continue receiving your full retirement pension and will no longer contribute to any pension plan, in addition to receiving remuneration for the work you provide.
