Assistance of the Central Authority for Québec

Acting as the Central Authority for Québec, the Gouvernement du Québec is responsible for the administration of the Act respecting the civil aspects of international and interprovincial child abduction.

The Act gives effect to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

The Gouvernement du Québec can intervene in certain cases and under certain conditions when:

However, the Gouvernement du Québec cannot intervene when a child who habitually resides in Québec has been abducted and is located in:

  • Québec
  • another Canadian province
