Exceptional case application at Aide financière aux études
You are experiencing an exceptional situation that is not covered by the student financial assistance rules and that could jeopardize your studies. You may then submit an exceptional case application, that is, request an exception from the application of a rule or condition under the Loans and Bursaries Program or the Loans Program for Part-Time Studies.
An exceptional case application is possible in two situations:
You have reached the maximum number of months of eligibility or the debt limit.
You consider that the amount of financial assistance awarded is insufficient for you to pursue your studies.
You must describe your situation and show its exceptional nature. For example, you can present the additional and unexpected expenses you face during the award year (September 1 to August 31 of the following calendar year) that are not covered by the Loans and Bursaries Program or the Loans Program for Part-Time Studies.
Submitting an application
Contact the financial aid office at your educational institution. A person will analyze your file and help you fill out your application, which will then be sent to Aide financière aux études.
