Arrival of Afghan refugees in Canada

In the past few months, the refugees have mainly arrived in Toronto, where they:

  • are placed under a 14-day mandatory quarantine;
  • must undergo two COVID-19 tests, in accordance with the measures established by Health Canada;
  • receive a first vaccine dose.

Partner organizations of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are coordinating the services offered during the stay at their port of entry.  Québec is involved very closely with them to offer information on Québec and facilitate the arrival of refugees in Québec.

Welcome and settlement of Afghan refugees in Québec

The Afghan refugees will be supported by a partner organization of the Gouvernement du Québec throughout their settlement and integration steps.
