Curateur public’s role in protection mandates

When a protection mandate is homologated, the Curateur public receives a copy of the judgment and is required to:

The Curateur public can also:

  • intervene in the homologation of the protection mandate by the court;
  • receive and process reports about persons with a homologated protection mandate;
  • use its investigative powers when deemed necessary, for example, to look into the actions of the mandatary;
  • ask the court to relieve the mandatary of their duties or to terminate the mandate and institute a tutorship.
