About the tutorship to a person of full age

The tutorship to a person of full age is a legal measure aimed at ensuring the protection of the person, the administration of their patrimony, and the exercise of their rights. It is established by the court in the event of the person’s incapacity and when they require representation in the exercise of their rights.

Depending on the person’s incapacity and need for representation, the tutorship may apply only the administration of their patrimony (all or part of their property). This is called a tutorship to the property.

The tutorship can also apply only the protection of their person, i.e., their moral well-being, their representation in the exercise of their civil rights, and the defense of their rights. This is called a tutorship to the person.

Finally, the tutorship can apply to both aspects. This is called a tutorship of the property and to the person.

See the web page Obligations of tutors and the tutorship council to learn about the roles and responsibilities of the tutor to the person and the tutor to the property.
