You have 30 days after the date you received your statement of offence to submit a guilty plea or a not guilty plea.
If you fail to do so, your file will be transmitted to the Court and a “judgment by default” will be rendered (without further notice to you). You will be found guilty.
Transmission of your plea
You can transmit your plea by completing:
the reply coupon attached to your statement or correspondence;
You are deemed to have been convicted of the offence charged in any of the following situations:
you plead guilty, but do not pay the fine;
you pay the total amount of the fine (including costs) without pleading guilty.
Not guilty plea
Your file will be transmitted to the court of competent jurisdiction for trial when you plead not guilty within the required time. A hearing notice will then be sent to you. It will indicate the time and place of your hearing.
