The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) today released its action plan to favour the arrival and sustainable settlement of immigrants in the regions.

The objective of this plan is to create hospitable conditions for the welcome, integration, sustainable settlement and full participation, in French, of immigrants in the regions. This can also contribute to the social, economic and cultural development of Québec as a whole.

This action plan will be deployed around the following objectives:

  • Prioritize regionalization from abroad by encouraging immigrants whose competencies meet the needs of the regions to settle there when they arrive in Québec.
  • Contribute to the attractiveness of the regions and the development of more welcoming and inclusive communities to encourage sustainable regionalization of immigrants.
  • Review and optimize the programs, services and measures in matters of regionalization to increase their use in all regions and simplify the client experience

Let us also remember that immigrants can benefit, while still abroad, from Accompagnement Québec, which enables them to communicate with an immigration assistance agent to begin their settlement and integration approaches.
