Job description

These individuals design and update websites. They collect, select, and organize the information to be disseminated and put it online. They compile website traffic statistics and monitor IT security. They take care of communications with web users. They create and test computer code. They oversee the architecture and aesthetics of websites and identify their software and hardware requirements. They are self-employed or work for:

Software development companies
IT consulting firms
Advertising, communication, marketing, and web development agencies
Private and public sector computer services

Main tasks

Establish customer needs related to a website under construction or being redesigned.
Produce a website template that includes the various design elements desired (colour palette, graphics, typography, etc.).
Create and optimize the website content with graphics, databases, animations, etc.
Design the appearance, layout, and data flow of the website, as required.
Upload content in each section of the website.
Ensure the website's automatic operations run smoothly and verify its stability.
Lead and coordinate, if necessary, multidisciplinary teams to develop graphics and content for the website.

Training and requirements

Formation

Bachelor’s degree or diploma of college studies

Sometimes required

Experience as a Programmer or Graphic Designer is usually required.
